The Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 25th Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 3rd at the St. Charles Convention Center, beginning at 7:30 am.  Tickets are $25 per person and tables of 10 are available for $250.

Pastor Williams was raised in New Orleans and was a walk-on at Southern University in his Junior Year. Before earning a B.S. in accounting in 1990, Pastor Aeneas tied the then Division I-AA single-season interception record with 11 during his senior season. He was drafted in the third round of the 1991 draft by the Arizona Cardinals and was traded to the St. Louis Rams in 2001. During an illustrious 14-year NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams that included eight Pro Bowls and four All-Pro selections, cornerback Aeneas Williams came to a realization – at times in the locker room you’d hear about the rough patches in players lives. This unhappiness wasn’t fueled from anything that happened on the field, but it came from something that was missing in the players’ lives.

Pastor Aeneas retired from football in 2004, but he continues to spread his message through speaking engagements across the country to NFL teams such as New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens and others.  Several Corporations and Ministries have also engaged his speaking services as well. Pastor Aeneas Williams is also a regular on KTVI, FOX 2 as a color commentator during the football season on Sundays.   All is secondary to his job as Pastor of The Spirit Church in St. Louis, Missouri where he has garnered respect as a leader and role model because of his tireless and extensive outreach in the community.

Hotels and two grist mills came into being as travelers again and again found themselves stranded at the point where the Boone’s Lick Trail crossed the Dardenne due to frequent over-flowing of the stream through which the road passed.

During the Civil War, Cottleville was home to a recruiting and training station for the St. Charles County Home Guard (Union Troops). The camp was named Camp Krekel after its commanding officer, Col. Arnold Krekel, founder of O’Fallon.

Six years ago when I was contemplating putting together a lifestyle magazine for the St. Charles County Community and beyond, people warned me that print was dying.  I said and still say, “Rubbish!”  The print medium has its place.  As I was watching the 90^th birthday celebration for Betty White the other night, one of the roasters for White held up a newspaper and quipped, “For those of you who don’t know what this is, it’s a newspaper.”  The roaster was attempting to poke fun at the continuing trend of digital media and the public’s tendency to seek all things techy.  And although the audience got a tickle out of it, Betty White remembered.  The Golden Girl extraordinaire even called Facebook a waste of time when she discovered it some years ago.

There is something to be said for being tactile.  Many of us still like to hold the things we read in our hands.  We like to set them down on our end tables and cuddle up with them in our easy chairs.  How many of us have gone to an electronic medium for our news only to find ourselves sending an interesting article to the printer to save for later or to read lying comfortably on the sofa?

Many times just to read an article in electronic form, you are required to submit your email or sign up for something else you aren’t interested in.  You end up giving up a portion of your privacy just to read a story that in the past would have been in the local paper.

Streetscape Magazine is a beautiful, coffee table quality, full-color publication packed full of intriguing articles featuring local heroes, fun events and the latest in fashion, beauty, health and wellness trends.

By the way for those of you who are completely baffled by this post, we are available online 24/7 with all issues past and current at www.streetscape.com.  Chances are, however, some of the articles are so good you will want to print them out for safe-keeping.
